Why Direct Care?
Healthcare is moving in this direction because Direct Primary Care offers a simpler, more personal approach to healthcare by removing insurance from the exam room. Instead of rushed visits and confusing bills, patients pay a clear monthly membership fee that covers most primary care needs. This model allows for longer appointments, same- or next-day access, and direct communication with your clinician, so concerns are addressed early and thoroughly. With fewer administrative barriers, your provider can focus entirely on you—building a trusted relationship, emphasizing prevention, and delivering care that’s transparent, accessible, and centered on your long-term health.
1
More Time with Clinician
Direct Care members typically have longer, unhurried appointments — often 45–60 minutes instead of 10–15. This allows:
-
deeper discussion of concerns,
-
development of a long term relationship with one provider,
-
thorough preventive care,
-
personalized health planning.
2
Easier & Faster Access
Patients often get:
-
Same-day or next-day visits
-
Direct text/call access to their APRN
-
Less time waiting to see a provider
Since my practice is smaller and appointment availability isn’t tied to insurance networks, access tends to be quicker.
3
Predictable Cost Structure
Instead of:
-
copays,
-
deductibles,
-
surprise bills,
you pay a flat monthly or annual membership fee that covers most primary care services. This can feel simpler and more predictable, even if you still carry insurance for specialized or hospital care.
4
Personalized Whole-Person Focused
Direct Care APRNs often spend more time on:
-
chronic condition coaching,
-
lifestyle changes,
-
mental health,
-
preventive screening,
-
health education
This can feel like relationship-based care rather than episodic visits.
5
Transparency & Trust
Because this practices doesn't bill insurance I am:
-
more transparent about pricing,
-
able to focus on what’s best for the patient, not what insurance will cover,
-
flexible in scheduling and treatment options.
This appeals to people who feel frustrated by insurance limits or denials.

Important to Know
Direct Care membership doesn’t replace health insurance for:
-
hospitalizations,
-
specialists,
-
emergency care,
-
costly imaging or procedures.
Patient still keep insurance for those services.

Can I use my HSA/FSA?
In many cases, yes. Recent updates often allow HSA funds to be used for DPC memberships. We recommend checking with your HSA/FSA plan and tax professional to maximize your benefits.

What if I have insurance?
Most of our members keep a high-deductible plan for emergencies or hospitalizations, while using First Track for 90% of their day-to-day needs. It’s the best of both worlds: protection for the 'what ifs' and premium care for the 'right nows'.
